Las Vegas Motor Speedway – Round 3&4 / Lucas Oil Off Road Series

To all of our supporters,

We had another successful weekend at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in Las Vegas this weekend. Team SakTea landed on Thursday and quickly set up our new canopy.  The new look for the truck includes a fresh set of Mickey Thompson tires over some old school “chrome” Method Wheels. Friday we had a two very eventful practice session. We were 7th and 10th on the clock. After reviewing film and photos we made a suspension and gear modification.

It seems that anytime the Pro 2’s are on the track, a whole lot of chaos follows. Qualifying took place Saturday morning and we felt great about the truck set up. However, during our qualifying session we had some inadvertent contact with Drew Britt. The result was a penalty that forced us to the back of the grid for Saturday’s main event

Coming down the start straight, I veered far left (the only dry part of the track) and passed five trucks going into turn one. Confidence grew and we battled the entire race feeling solid throughout. I had a great time battling with the seven time Supercross Champion, Jeremy McGrath. At the checkers we sat 7th and still had the truck in one piece.

On Sunday, we had a better starting position (10th) and we hoped to build on the momentum from Saturday’s success. Amazingly, we encountered no “yellow” flags the entire race. This allowed the front runners to get away from the pack. We ran strong the entire race, but I left the door open on one of the later laps and suffered the inevitable side swipe. I lost several places, but finished with some heated battles in the middle of the pack (finishing 9th).

Next race is May 18th and 19th at Lake Elsinore. Saturday night after the racing is complete, we will be having a SakTea gathering. Hope to see everyone there.

Thanks for all the help…we couldn’t do it without you!
